classed chloropleth map

The chloropleth map is a classed chloropleth map that shows the number of males per 100 females for a census for the year 2000.Classed chloropeth maps combine a real areal units into smaller groups that are divided into intervals using the process of equal steps , quantiles, natural breaks or minimum variance .The map employs six different data classes that use equal aerial units a graded color series to show intensity.

unclassified chlorpleth maps

The image is a unclassified chloropleth map of the birth rate of children t0 women in some europeon nations. In unclassified chloropleth maps shading and tinting of a continous color is used to designate a numerical value. In this particular map a contnous orange scale is used to denote the maximum and minimum fertility rate of children in Europe.

standarized chlorpleth map

The image is a standardized chloropleth map of Canada that shows the amount of children 14 years or younger. In this type of map , the data is divided typically in terms of the area or a related area variable to allow comparison of the phenemom . This image uses the shade and lightness of a green hue in direct relationship to a numeric value to graphically illustrate the data.

Windrose map

Windrose is a map diagram that is used to determine the air pressure velocity distribution for specific area. It is commonly used by meterologists to show wind frequency and strength. This windrose is color coded banded that are divided into increments to show wind speed ranges and seven cirecular lines that represent different frequencies.

Traiangular plot

A triangular plot is a graphic illustration that shows the ratios of 3 variables as positions in equilateral triangle that adds up to a constant. This ternary plot uses colors to show which voting conditions would project a favourable outcome for the 3 dominant political parties. According to the graph , party representatives will need at least 51 percent of the electoral vote to win.

Lorenz Curve

A Lorenz Curve shows the degree of proportionality that exist between the distribution of two variables. This Lorenz Curve utilizes a coordinate plane to show the relationship between the two variables; "culmulative percent of income and cumulative percent of the population." A lorenz Curve is usually associated with such factors as income distributions and calculations.

Histogram

A histogram is a graphical representation that shows the distribution of data classes or "bins" that fall into various ranges. This histogram have five colorful rectangular bins that establish a relationship between a "number of students " and "exam scores" . It shows how histograms are represented by adjacent rectangles that fill at intervals directly proportional to the frequency of its bins.

steam and leaves

A stem and leaf plot is a graphical dispay that organizes numerical data in order of place value and assigns it to category of either a "steam " or "leaf" . In this type of map , the data values from the steam and leaf categories combine to form a numeric group. In this steam -leaf-plot both of tens and ones digits are in order from least to greatest. where parts of the display have no data , no one was in thier 20's or 60's for example there is a gap.

box plot

A box plot is a graphical display of a set of arithmetic data in terms of its five number summaries : sample minimium, lower quartile, median , upper quartile, and sample maximum. The above box plot has lines at its lower, median, and upper quartile values and "whiskers"that extend from each end of it to a selected value. This image is a Box plot of car mileage for a series of nations and shows that the U.S.s has the greatest mileage distribution.

correlation matrix

A correlation Matrix is a type of matrix that establishes a relationship between two or more variables. This type of Matrix has data variable names that are listed across its top row and along its first column and a diagonal always consisting of ones that goes from its upper left corner to its lower right corner. Our correlation matrix shows the relationship between the "top 100 cancer genes," and it has a red diagonal running from its left to right corner that consists of one values.

star plots

The star plot is a graphical technique for displaying and analyzing the behavior of multivariate data for a single observation. Our star plot is in the shape of an actual star, it was created by Herman Berguas in 1879. It is actually a special case of Petermann's projection with five lobes , all parallels are concentric , equally spaced arcs of circle and meridans are straight lines , all but five are broken.

Thematic maps is simply made to reflect a particular theme about a geographic area. Thematic maps can provide graphical summary of the selected results by state or county.
The map above is a choropleth map,a type of thematic map, which uses color to represent stastical data. The map is using different colors to represent the population density of each state.

cartogram

A cartogram map is a map in which some thematic mapping variable is substituted for land area. the geometry or space of the map is distorted in order to convey the information of this alternative variable. There are two types , area and distance cartogram. The map above is an type of area cartogram map , it is an election map. The red area represents the area that is predominately republic and the blue represents the democratic vote. The blue area appears overwhemingly in the majority. Which represents a greater democratic population.
